The Harold Hamm Foundation and Continental Resources on Wednesday announced a combined donation of $ 50 million establishing the Hamm Institute for American Energy at Oklahoma State University.

The Hamm Institute’s mission is to educate the next generation of energy leaders – in Oklahoma, the United States, and around the world – cementing Oklahoma’s legacy as a global energy leader.

“The generous donations of Harold Hamm and Continental Resources to establish the Hamm Institute for American Energy will have a transformative impact on OSU and the energy industry around the world. With a state-of-the-art laboratory including wells drilled beneath the building, an auditorium and classrooms, this building is perfectly suited, ”said OSU President Kayse Shrum. “Sir. Initial funding for the institute and the project will be a donation of $ 50 million – $ 25 million from the Harold Hamm Foundation and $ 25 million from Continental Resources. The Hamm Institute will be located at what was previously known as OSU Discovery, 300 NE 9th St. in the Oklahoma City Innovation District, and will become the building’s primary and permanent occupant.

The Hamm Institute will become the center of all American energy. It will host symposia, authors, speakers, energy summits and global conversations on energy leadership. The building will eventually house the interactive Oklahoma Hall of Energy Legends, a public exhibit highlighting the history and legacy of Oklahoma’s great energy leaders.

Hamm, a native of Oklahoman and founder and chairman of Continental Resources, began his oil and gas career more than five decades ago, starting with just one oil service truck and a dream. His incredible journey, entrepreneurial spirit, and drive to change the world for the better have inspired countless others, and his latest philanthropic initiative aims to elevate the state to new and familiar heights.

Hamm is recognized as a national leader and a staunch supporter of the US oil and gas industry. He has spent more than five and a half decades in the industry, starting his own petroleum services company to founding one of the most dynamic and innovative exploration and production companies in the United States, Continental Resources. .
