Amritsar: The Institutional Innovation Council (IIC) at DAV College, Amritsar held a mentoring session on “Innovation and Startup Ecosystem Enablers” under the leadership of the Director and Chairman of IIC, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, and IIC Vice President, Dr. Daisy Sharma. The resource person was Dr. Bikramjit Singh, Deputy Director, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Amritsar. Dr. Bikramjit Singh said that the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Amritsar was established in 2005 under the auspices of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana with full financial assistance from the Indian Council of Agriculture agricultural research (ICAR). Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) is an innovative scientific institution that provides training in knowledge. Practicing farmers (short term 1-2 days), vocational trainings for rural youth (3-7 days) in the disciplines of crop production, plant protection, horticulture, soil science, animal science and home economics for unemployed rural youth and men and women farmers.

Vacancies for admission

A few seats are vacant in the Bachelor of Planning (Urban and Regional) and M Plan (Transportation) programs at Guru Nanak Dev University for the 2022-23 academic session. Dr. Kuldip Singh, head of the department, said applicants seeking admission against these vacant seats should apply on the university’s website www.gnduadmissions.org. The deadline for submitting the application fee and online application form is September 30. Consultations will be on a first come, first served basis. The selected candidate will be required to deposit the fees on site. The faculty further mentioned the importance of planning programs and pointed out that many jobs in state government, central government and private sector at national and international level are available in this discipline.

The results will be available on the university’s website www.gndu.ac.in, said Prof Palwinder Singh, Head (Examinations).
